About the artist:
From dairy farm to veterinary technician to watercolor artist. Pretty much sums up my life except for all the details in between!
I grew up on a dairy farm and fell in love with animals, especially cows, dogs, cats and chickens. I also enjoyed the entire farm experience which included the growing of crops and home gardening. When I was "on my own" after college and had the opportunity I grew flowers of all kinds.
It wasn't until about 15 years ago that I decided I wanted to paint and of course there was no shortage of subjects or inspirations! I took lessons from Sherry Holmes, a watercolor teacher from Cobleskill, NY and a signature member of the Central New York Watercolor Society. And so began my journey.
With the help of my husband Dick, a retired veterinarian, we have many flower gardens at our home in Curriers, NY and our summer home on Chautauqua Lake, NY. Our small flock of chickens, four cats and all the flowers provide hours of entertainment (did I mention the hard work involved as well!) not to mention the supply of eggs and many subjects for painting.
During May through September my work is on display at The Art Loft, (www.theartloft.org), a fine art gallery in Mayville, NY 1/4 mile from the Chautauqua Institute, Chautauqua, NY, ( www.ciweb.com). I work part time at the gallery so if you are in the area please stop by and visit. The gallery is very unique and has work from artists all across the states.
Thank you for visiting my shop, I hope you enjoy my work and that it brings some joy into your life.
